The Selayang Hospital hand centre provides a comprehensive inpatient and outpatient hand service to children and adults. Services are provided by a multidisciplinary team. The hand team is headed by a consultant hand surgeon with vast experience in hand and microsurgery. Backed by the experience in having reattached more than 300 severed limbs and thousands of other operations, the hand centre provides the following services:-


Replantation Service
This department provides a 24-hour replantation service such as reattachment of severed limbs and digits by a team of surgeons and paramedics trained in microsurgical techniques. It receives referrals from various parts of Malaysia.

Microneural Reconstruction Of Brachial Plexus Injuries
This unit uses microsurgical reconstructive methods to save badly injured legs and injuries to the nerves. People with cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries and stroke can have their hand functions improved by surgery and specialised hand splinting and therapy. It also provides treatment for complex congenital hand anomalies and a comprehensive range of upper extremity rehabilitative services including computerised medical impairment ratings for purposes of medico legal and insurance claims.

The Selayang Hand Centre is truly amazing. Its other services include automatic computerised calculation of the impairment rating in a hand injury patient, immediate confirmation of any Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or other nerve compression problems with the Viking 1V EMG machine.

The hand therapy centre located within the hand clinic provides a one-stop centre in the total care of patients with upper extremity injuries and diseases.
